Working Hard in Retirement
Wes Sheets, a founding board member of the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters, was the receipient of the Howard L. Wiegers Nebraska Outstanding Wildlife Conservation Award for 2009 on April 25. Since retiring as assistant director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Sheets has worked fulltime to support and promote organizations to protect habitat and wildlife.
An avid hunter, Wes serves on the national Izaak Walton League board, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and devotes countless hours to mentoring youth hunters. Sheets currently serves as Treasurer of the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters.
